Packing needs one Month before Moving

  • Gather moving supplies, packing boxes, tape, paper and bubblewrap.
  • If moving far away, make any necessary travel arrangements such as airline, hotel and rental car reservations.
  • Finalise real estate and apartment rental needs.
  • Place legal, medical, and insurance records in a safe and accessible place.
  • Advise Australia Post of your new address.
  • Notify Banks, Insurance Companies, and other financial institutions of your move.
  • Tell your Doctors, Dentists, and other service providers

Two Weeks before Moving

  • Inform gas, electric, water, Foxtel, local telephone services of your move. Sign up for services at your new address.
  • Recruit moving-day help.
  • Confirm travel reservations.
  • Arrange to close or transfer your bank account, if appropriate.
  • If you have children, pack a bag of games and activities for the trip.
  • Mark clearly all packing boxes that are packed. Store marked packing boxes aside.

10 Days Prior: Confirm your moving date.

Access
An unobstructed path to and from the doorway of your home is critical on removal day.
Advise your neighbours in advance that a removal vehicle will be parked outside your home. Let us know if parking permits are required.
If you are not on the ground floor or may have access problems, please advise us in advance.

Parking
Parking near your residence should be easily accessible for the purpose of removals.
Do whatever you can to reserve parking for your movers.
Remember that the moving vehicle cannot block the street.
If the movers have to walk extra distances with your furniture, the move will take longer and may cost you more.

Valuables & Important Documentation
Set aside jewellery, important papers and safe deposit box contents. Pack these yourself so that you can keep them with you throughout your journey.
Do not pack your chequebook, passport, visas or airline tickets.
If you are putting your goods in storage, do not pack important papers such as passports, driver’s licenses, birth certificates, etc.
